AKB48 To Add Its 5th Team

 

AKB48 will soon be welcoming in even more members. The group's producer,Akimoto Yasushi, announced through Google+ that the group will be adding a new team, "Team 8".

During the 2nd night of AKB48's Saitama Super Arena concert, it was announced that 5 new members were added to "Team 4" of the group. "Team 4" now has 16 members.

Research Students training to get into AKB48 have been encouraged to continue working hard to be included in the newly announced group.

"Since there are many people concerned about the Research Students who didn’t get promoted, I will talk about something that should’ve been announced earlier. I will make Team 8. I want them to aim for that," Akimoto stated.

AKB48 started off with 3 teams: "Team A", "Team K" and "Team B". Afterwards, "Team 4" was created. "Team 8" will be the group's 5th team.
